Course Summary

As a profession, law enforcement devotes a significant number of training hours to firearms training, considering that an officer may work an entire career never having used a weapon.  Law enforcement officers, however, will operate patrol vehicles every working day, facing the possibility of a traffic collision resulting in a serious injury or death, a damaged vehicle, and possible legal liability, which makes this training critically important. This course is designed to refresh all driving instructors on law enforcement driving essentials. Operating a police vehicle should never be taken lightly.

The course’s main objective is to create a program to guide law enforcement officers toward a low-risk, high-gain driving style using the Scan, Identify, Predict, Decide, Execute method.  Emergency response considerations and psychological factors are what differentiate this training from a general driving course.

Like other instructor courses, the practical portion of this course is when the instructor sees students perform and learns to identify their different learning styles and then accommodates instruction to their styles. Vehicle dynamics are addressed as are braking and the Six Deadly Skids.

Help keep officers safe by learning the best way to drive safe!
