Course Summary

The events of September 11, 2001, the Boston bombing, and other violent acts clearly reflect the continuing and growing threat of terrorism in America. All government agencies need to better understand such events and improve the sharing of information in order to proactively “connect the dots” and prevent another terrorist attack on American soil.

The average officer conducting daily duties must have keen insight into tips, individuals, and/or clues. Any of these sources could lead to a discovery of a nefarious individual or group of individuals plotting to bring harm to private citizens.

Such prevention efforts include action steps that we can take to assess the risk of an incident, harden the target, and either prevent an incident or minimize its severity. While nothing can completely eliminate the risk of an incident, appropriate prevention strategies may reduce the scope, severity, or duration of an incident. The National Suspicious Activity Report Initiative (NSI) project has been developed to help accomplish these goals. Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) focuses on terrorism.

No law enforcement officer should remain ignorant about overlooked signs, which could lead to disaster for our nation, your agency, your career, but mostly for citizens. This course will teach officers to look at the world in a slightly different, more vigilant way.
