Course Summary

The inmate populations of today’s correctional facilities continue to change. In our liability-driven world, one size does not fit all individuals, and corrections officers need the keen insights on female offenders that this training provides.

Today, women make up a sizable number of inmates and an effective approach to housing these inmates must be understood. This course addresses the key “need-to-know” issues that all correctional officers and law enforcement officers should know.

While traditionally housing mostly male offenders, today’s facilities also house female offenders. To update the training of correctional officers who manage, protect, and police female offenders, this course introduces and highlights the issues that distinguish female offenders from male offenders. Correctional facilities must remain consistent with respect to precise and measured firmness and fairness as it pertains to all offenders.

This course addresses how to:

  • Distinguish the differences and similarities between the male and female offender
  • Recognize the importance of firm boundaries when dealing with the female offender
  • Identify inappropriate behavior often displayed by the female offender to get what she wants
  • Understand the need for gender-specific programming for the female offender

Studies have shown that female offenders who successfully transition back into society often credit, among other factors, a well-trained correctional staff. Allow us to train you.
